Fault Tolerant Ring Topology

Networks come in various topologies; bus, ring, star, etc. In this application, the customer had three large building sites located several miles apart.

PROBLEM: Each site has localized computer needs as well as computer information shared with the other sites. Each site wants local management for security, but wishes to share resources with the other sites and desires backup capabilities in case of failure.

SOLUTION: Using a NC3600 exchange at each site with fiber links coupling the three sites, each site can control their own availability of resources and still share in a controlled network environment.

In this configuration, if any single fiber link is lost, the network is capable of continuing to run with the other two links with full access capabilities.

This site is a remarkably managed and maintained site. Every wire is labeled, wire runs are protected, and network exchanges are constantly monitored for network glitches.
