LAT Terminal Serving
on a
Private WAN
One of DEC's (Digital Equipment Corp's) largest distributors wanted to tie their network into DEC's electronic sales system and allow any of their offices to have access.
PROBLEM : The distributor had in place, a private network consisting of CASE/Paradyne DCX systems with distributed statistical multiplexors at offices around the United States. Hooking statmuxes back to back with DEC terminal servers was not cost effective or functionally capable.
SOLUTION : The customer already was using ABLE PL550 terminal servers at their corporate offices and RG300 EASYway REMOTEgates to connect WAN. By adding two more PL550s and two more RG300s at DEC's site, a seamless network connection was accounted for.
The customer is in control of and is assured of a secure network. Using synchronous telephone lines only at the speeds required for each office, keeps telco charges down and performance matching the requirements..
The customer's problem was solved without a glitch. No software headaches. No exhorbidant hardware expenses. Full DEC LAT compatibility.
